During colonial rule in India the British retreated from the heat of the plains to the cool, fresh climate of the mountains. Himalayan Eco Adventures operator from one of these old British retreats. The charming town of Manali located in the peaceful north Indian state of Himachal Pradesh, approximately 500 km to the north of New Delhi.

Today Manali is a very popular holiday destination for both domestic and international tourist. The domestic tourists come here to "Kullu; the valley of the gods" where Manali is situated, to enjoy the snow on Rohtang pass, visit the many ancient temples, and to escape the fierce summer heat of the plains.

Backpackers travel here for the breathtaking views that Manali is blessed with, and for many to experience the mountain trekking around the valley and beyond into Ladakh and Zanskar.
